Fascinated
by design, I pursued my desire for
architecture, by enrolling in the Bachelor of Architecture (B.ARCH)
program at one of India's premier institution, the School of Architecture
and Planning, Anna University, Chennai.
University proved to be a fecund ground of inspiration, and I believe
it has transformed me into a well rounded designer, problem solver
and creative thinker. My communication skills and leadership abilities
helped me represent the School at the National Association of Students
of Architecture (NASA), India. I completed my Architecture Internship
at PT MCE in Indonesia specializing in 3-D Modeling and Design.
As an undergrad, I won a few design competitions and played basketball
for the University.
After receiving my Bachelors degree, I moved to the United States
for further studies. I enrolled in the M.F.A (Digital Production
Arts) program at Clemson University and worked as a Media Designer
for the Multimedia Facility (MATRF) on campus while pursuing the
M.F.A program. I had worked on many New Media projects for various
clients including BMW North America. Before graduating, I received
and accepted a full time job at Coker International as a Web/IT
Administrator.
Coker International LLC is a worldwide dealer in used textile machinery.
While performing computer related job duties, Coker encouraged me
to use my foreign language skills and try business development in
emerging textile markets. Surprisingly, I had my first sale in two
months and focused on business development in international markets
like India, Bangladesh, etc. exporting millions of dollars worth
of machinery. I also continued to consult on various web development
projects during my spare time.
After a few years at Coker International, I decided to pursue an
International MBA at the Moore School of Business, University of
South Carolina. I was in the Spanish track and completed an International
assignment as Senior Business Analyst at ICA Fluor (a leading industrial
construction company in Mexico). My First task was to design and
develop a website that could be easily managed by the various departments.
After that my tasks included working on a 5-year strategic plan,
developing construction market analysis, financial analysis of prospective
clients, and coordinating the SOX audit efforts internally and with
external auditors such as Ernst & Young, Deloitte etc. Apart
from becoming functionally proficient in Spanish, I also learnt
some French.
While I was spending my holidays back in the US before heading to
Paris for an exchange semester, I received a call for help from
the President of Coker International, (my previous employer) as
they were going through a major restructuring. It was a tough decision,
but I decided Paris could wait and answered the call for help. As
a Management Consultant, I reviewed and offered suggestions on various
business issues, created an Intranet for easy flow of inventory
and financial information, trained the staff on new systems and
procedures and put in place a new sales compensation system among
other responsibilities.
After eight months of consulting, I decided to head back to School
and complete my MBA . Upon completion, I launched my entrepreneurial
venture - Fabrisource. Fabrisource (www.fabrisource.com
) is a sourcing platform for the global textile and related industries
that provides value added services and promotes a responsible community
where the buyers and suppliers can connect and collaborate.
Whether it is a painting, a sculpture, a website or a business,
I enjoy turning an idea or concept into reality. This passion for
creating things and making it happen, has also led me to be a good
manager of time, quality and resources.
At this time, I keep myself open to any opportunity small or big,
where I can integrate my experience in design, information technology,
business development and consulting, along with my graduate education
in business.
Thank
you for visiting my portfolio. Hope you enjoyed it!
